Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories (NSAIDs)

These drugs belong to an old class of medications which have been around for several decades.

These drugs are used to treat a wide variety of conditions ...allergic reactions, auto-immune disorders, rejection episodes in patients with transplants, pneumonia, asthma, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, joint inflammation, pain, swelling, etc.

The basic pharmaceutical reasons to use NSAIDs are :

NSAIDs Are Anti-Inflammatory

The anti-inflammatory properties of the NSAIDs insure that the release of the prostaglandins, histamines, thromboxanes and leukotrienes is inhibited in the area of tissue injury.
